Despite the latest
advances in technology, there are still a lot of misconceptions about the use
of hearing aids that need to be cleared up. A lot of people approach the issue
(and use) of hearing aids with a lot of myths and misunderstood information
about their use and what they can and cannot do.
For one, a lot of people
think that hearing can be completely restored through the use of a hearing aid.
This is a very false assumption, as hearing aids, as the name implies, can only
aid in better hearing, and have never claimed to restore hearing.
Another misconception
describes quite the opposite, and supposes that hearing aids destroy what's
left of the user's hearing. This is just silly as that would defeat the purpose
of having a hearing aid in the first place.
Also, it's important to
note that while some will assail the use of branded hearing aids and propose
cheaper, more affordable ones, the difference in quality always makes itself
apparent after some time. Cheap and low quality hearing aids break down faster,
and are more prone to suffer from distortions and other issues in the earpiece
itself.
As long as hearing aids
are used properly, they can prove to be a very helpful tool for people with
impaired hearing. Know more about hearing aids so you can make a more informed
decision based on facts, not just on heresay.
